Bradford Shoplifting Suspect “Pining” For Freedom After Lumber Used As Weapon

Big Box Store Loss Prevention Officer Tried To Stop Him

Police have cuffed a Bradford man after reports of shoplifting resulted in Assault charges laid.

Around 11:00 Wednesday morning, South Simcoe Police officers were sent to a Langford Blvd. big box store with reports of a shoplifter. A Loss Prevention Officer told police they tried to stop a suspect on the way out of the store, but the man grabbed a piece of refuse lumber from a nearby field and used it as a weapon.

Once police arrived on the scene, the 32-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with Assault With a Weapon, and Theft. Nobody was injured in the exchange.
