A new, rarely available therapeutic technique is making its way to Barrie with the opening of Wellthera Integrated Health Friday.

Its signature service, Brazilian lymphatic drainage, is a seldom-used technique across the province. Celebrities and beauty influencers have boosted its popularity, leading to its added use in other locations.

“Unlike traditional massage, this method focuses on the lymphatic system using a series of precise movements,” explains Wellthera founder Camila Dos Santos. “Many patients notice immediate changes in bloating, skin tone, and water retention, without the need for injectables or invasive procedures.”

Dos Santos, who runs the business with her husband, Sam, plans to deliver unique therapeutic treatments grounded in clinical knowledge. She pairs honours-level Canadian RMT credentials with her nursing studies in her home country of Brazil.

Her wellness clinic's mission is to redefine the accessibility of therapeutic care, both in terms of quality and affordability.

“Wellness should be exceptional and attainable,” Dos Santos said. “We want people in Barrie to have access to advanced, clinically informed care—close to home and covered by insurance where possible.”

Alongside BLD therapy, Wellthera offers deep tissue massage, myofacial release, acupuncture and prenatal treatments.

The clinic says it supports direct billing with most major insurers, which makes premium-level treatments more financially accessible.

Celebrities like Selena Gomez, Hailey Bieber, and the Kardashians are among celebrities that endorse the BLD technique.

The term “Brazilian” in lymphatic drainage refers to a style popularized by massage therapist Renata França. In contrast, most RMTs in Canada train in the Vodder method of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD). That technique takes on a gentler approach developed in France in the 1930s.

Founded in 2024, Wellthera says it thrives on providing customized treatment that reduces stress, enhances recovery, and eases chronic pain. It adds clients interested in treatments can book directly on their website or apply to the waitlist.
