Break & Enter Calls Rising In South Simcoe

Police Offering Tips on Home Safety

South Simcoe Police are offering some home safety tips after a spike in break and enter calls.

They say B&E calls are up 18% so far this year over 2018.
Some tips include installing a deadbolt lock on your doors and equipping them with non-removable hinge pins.

On sliding doors and windows, install screws or a blocking device to help prevent them from being lifted off the tracks.

If you’re away put lights on timers to give the impression someone is home, ask a neighbour to park in your driveway, and don’t leave notes or messages on doors, your voicemail or social media to indicate you’re away.
