Candlelighters Assembling Christmas Baskets For Children and Families

Hoping To Distribute Goodies To 50 Families In Simcoe County

When you have a child undergoing cancer treatment you never know where you’ll be at Christmas. You could be at home, local hospital or Toronto’s Sick Kids. That’s why Candlelighters Simcoe puts extra care into making sure children and their families are looked after during the holidays.

Candlelighters Simcoe is a support organization for families who have a child or teen undergoing cancer treatment.

Since 2006 they have put together Christmas baskets filled with goodies to help alleviate some of the holiday stress and bring joy to the kids.

Parent Liaison Cheryl Gotthelf says they have 50 families in Simcoe County they hope to gift to.

Popular items include gingerbread house making kits, hot chocolate, apple cider, tea, chocolate, grocery store and coffee shop gift cards, teen appropriate gift cards, Christmas DVD’s, and ornaments. Monetary donations are also accepted.

Gotthelf says they hope to deliver the baskets around December 15th.
