Canoe Used As Getaway Vehicle Following Bracebridge Crash
Man Charged After Being Found Paddling From Scene of Crime
It wasn’t exactly trains, planes, and automobiles, but cops say one man made use of whatever he could to get away.
Bracebridge OPP officers say a man fled the scene on foot, after a crash on Highway 11 at Cedar Lane around 8:00 Wednesday morning. A pickup truck towing three snowmobiles crashed in the ditch, the driver allegedly ran from the scene and stole a canoe.
He was later located, paddling his way into Bracebridge. The 52-year-old was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Probation Breach.
