Catholic school board another step closer to getting a new school built in Bradford West Gwillimbury

Will replace St. Charles Catholic School

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board has awarded the construction contract for a new school in Bradford West Gwillimbury to Tambro Construction Limited of Guelph.

This replacement school will be in the same location as the current St. Charles Catholic School on Simcoe Road.

“This has been a challenging year in so many ways,” said Director of Education Frances Bagley. “Looking forward to building and opening a new school for current St. Charles families, and those that we expect to welcome in the years ahead has certainly added some excitement and hope for staff and the Bradford West Gwillimbury community, which continues to experience tremendous growth.”

The new school will accommodate 470 students and will include three child care rooms (49 spaces), including an infant room.

The former Liberal government had pledged $10.7 million to the project in 2016. The current government gave the go-ahead for the project in October 2020 approving $18.2 million in funding.
