Charges Laid in Connection to Collingwood Sexual Assault, Three Others in GTA
Latest Victim Caught a Licence Plate, Leading To Arrest
A suspect has been arrested in connection to four sexual assaults, including a New Year’s Day attack in Collingwood
The Toronto Police Service announced a suspect was in custody today, charged in connection to the Collingwood incident, as well as three others within the GTA.
The OPP received reports just before 2:00 on the morning of January 1st, 2017, that a woman had been pulled into a vehicle in Collingwood, and was sexually assaulted.
Investigators in Toronto say the same man was behind assaults in July of 2015, as well as July and November of this year. The victim of the latest assault was able to obtain a licence plate number, a move Toronto Police credit with leading to the suspect’s arrest.
A 34-year-old Toronto man faces twenty criminal charges including Sexual Assault, Extortion, Assault With a Weapon, and Chocking.
Investigators believe there could be further victims and are asking anyone with information to contact their local police service.
