A child death investigation launched by the Ontario Provincial Police in Gravenhurst more than two years ago has led to a charge of second-degree murder against a 24-year-old Brampton man.
Police say around 7:45 p.m. on January 5, 2023, emergency services responded to a call for a child who had suffered significant injuries. The child was transported to hospital where they died of their injuries two days later.
Investigators have also charged a 33-year-old Gravenhurst woman with failing to provide necessaries of life.
Both accused were remanded in custody and are to appear in court on Friday.
A publication ban has been issued and as a result, the OPP will not be able to release further information.
Police said the investigation is continuing.
