City of Orillia getting primed to raze former OPP detachment

Demolition to begin during week of July 26, making way for permit parking

Proving once again that what goes up, must come down, the City of Orillia is tearing down an old police station.

Orillia City Hall says it will proceed with the demolition of the former OPP Detachment at 66 Peter Street, and adjacent buildings, to make way for a parking lot.

Work is expected to begin during the week of July 26 and is expected to take until September 1. A construction fence will surround the property for the duration of the project, while all demolition activity will be in line with the city’s noise bylaw.

Once completed, the site will be a permit parking lot.
