Following a fire to the facility's roof May 12, cleanup and restoration efforts have begun at the Innisfil Recreational Complex.

There is still no confirmed date for full or partial reopening, with the Town of Innisfil maintaining safety as a top priority. It did confirm that the IRC will remain closed at least one more week and that all rentals, registered programs and drop-in activities are suspended.

The west side of the building, which includes the pool operating equipment, sustained significant damage. The northwest corner, which includes some electrical and mechanical rooms, as well as some change rooms and hallways, was also impacted.

Innisfil will utilize the Stroud Innisfil Community Centre to relocate some programs from the IRC such as the Teen Nights program.

The Troy Scott Community Fridge outside the building's north entrance is still available for those wishing to donate or access the fridge and pantry.

The cause of the fire and the total of damages is still undetermined.
