Good news for people who had elective surgeries booked at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. (CGMH)
Ontario Health and Safety has granted the hospital approval to gradually and safely ramp up elective surgeries.
In mid-March, elective surgeries were scaled down for hospitals to prepare for COVID-19.
CGMH will follow a four-phase recovery plan, which allows the hospital to start procedures that had to be put on hold. Patients will be rebooked in the coming weeks and months as the next phases of the recovery plan are approved.
Chief of Staff Dr. Michael Lisi says it will take a while before the backlog of cases is cleared, and asks for the community to remain patient.
