Collingwood Injuries Being Investigated by Provincial Watchdog
Man Hurt While Jumping Through Window
The Special Investigations Unit is in Collingwood today to look into the serious injuries suffered by a man over the weekend.
Reports suggest the man was injured after jumping through a window yesterday, as officers were checking on the well-being of a man following an incident from the day before.
The SIU says the man refused to come out for police when they went knocking, around 8:30 Monday morning, so the Tactical Support Unit was called in. Officers used a firetruck telescopic aerial basket to get to the apartment window from outside, while others forced their way through the front door.
According to the Special Investigations Unit, plastic pellets from an Anti Riot Weapon ENfield (ARWEN) were fired at the man shortly before he fell from the window.
