Anyone who refuses to share required information will be denied entry

News release – from City of Barrie

On September 1, 2021, the Government of Ontario announced that proof of COVID-19 vaccination would be required in select settings as of September 22, 2021. On September 14, 2021 the Government of Ontario released regulations and guidance for requiring proof of vaccination to enter certain facilities. In accordance with the law, the City of Barrie will require proof of vaccination to access select indoor services and programs taking place at community centres, arenas, pools and entertainment/cultural venues. Exemptions will be made as permitted by the Government of Ontario’s regulations.

The following will be required at the point of entry:

  • Ontario Ministry of Health COVID-19 vaccination certificate or other Government issued vaccination record.
  • Acceptable identification which includes name & birthdate – photo ID is not required.
    • Examples include birth certificate, citizenship card, driver’s license or other government issued ID.

As per provincial regulations, anyone who refuses to share the required information will not be permitted to enter the City recreation/culture centres. Limited exceptions apply.

Anyone who has been fully vaccinated and requires their vaccine certificate can print or download their receipt from the provincial booking portal. To help residents who may not have access to a printer, Barrie Libraries are providing free printing services for customers requiring a paper copy of their vaccination certificate.

People are considered fully vaccinated after receiving the full series of a COVID 19 vaccine or combination of COVID-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (e.g., two doses of a two-dose vaccine series, or one dose of a single-dose vaccine series) and it has been at least 14 days since the person received the final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Who needs to show proof of vaccination at City recreation/culture centres:

Drop-in activities and virtual programs are available for registration via at Holly Community Centre, East Bayfield Community Centre and Allandale Recreation Centre. Pre-registration and COVID-19 screening is required. No walk-in programs or activities are being offered at this time.
