Must-have for the holidays: COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits are being snapped up
Stock ran out at two LCBO stores by early Friday afternoon in Barrie
This has suddenly become a must-have for the holidays.
There has been a run on people getting their hands on those free take-home COVID-19 rapid antigen screening test kits.
The Ford government said this week it will distribute two million of the kits in high-traffic areas over the holidays including LCBO stores, malls, retail stores, holiday markets, public libraries, and transit hubs.
Two LCBO locations in Barrie and another in Collingwood (Pine/First) and Orillia (Highway 12b/11) ran out of stock early Friday afternoon. The story was similar at LCBO locations in Ottawa, London and Cambridge.
Rapid test kit update.

The following stores are currently out of stock:
Aurora – Bayview & St. John
Barrie – Mapleview & Byrne
Oakville – N Service Rd & Dorval
Scarborough – Eglinton & Warden
Toronto – Danforth & Broadview
Toronto – Queens Quay & Yonge
Toronto – Summerhill
The LCBO wants the public to know it can’t confirm arrival times at each location and expects limited supply to go quickly.
We thank our customers for their patience and understanding. Our staff will be doing their best to share updates with anyone waiting and distribute kits on arrival. Store signage is being used at front doors to indicate if a store has kits, does not have kits, or expecting kits.
