An international Financial Service has maintained the City of Barrie’s ‘AA’ credit rating.
The latest report from Standard & Poor’s (S&P) points to Barrie’s growing and diversifying economy, along with its fiscal management. The report indicates the city will have strong fiscal performance despite forecasted high population growth and elevated capital spending.
“S&P’s ‘AA’ credit rating confirms that Barrie’s economy is strong and we continue to make the necessary investments to support our growing community. Council and City staff are dedicated to building a solid financial foundation and this rating shows that we are on the right path,” says Mayor Jeff Lehman.
The S&P report indicates it expects Barrie’s economy to grow at a healthy pace and diversify further over the next two years.
