A suspect has been charged after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they caught a crook "red-handed" when they responded to a possible theft in progress.
Just after 9:30 Sunday morning, police say they responded to a report about a suspicious male who appeared to be taking property from a neighbour's home while they were away.
"Once on scene, officers located a male exiting a shed at the back of a private residence on Baker Street in the Town of Wasaga Beach. The contents of the shed had been emptied and thrown over an adjacent fence. Other stolen goods that had been stashed on a nearby street were also located." according to a news release from police.
A 43-year-old from Wasaga Beach has been charged with the following:
- Obstructing a peace officer
- Theft under $5000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
The accused was released on an undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood at a future date.
