Provincial police say a 24-year-old Oro-Medonte resident was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Tay Township.

Around 12:35 Sunday morning, OPP say a motorist called 911 who reported a vehicle leaving Highway 12 just west of Gervais Road at highway speed and into a wooded area.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Highway 12 was closed for about five hours for the investigation.

A post mortem will be held at a future date to determine the cause of death.
