Diabetes Canada says donation bins are overflowing with textiles and garbage

People urged not to drop off items as pick-up staff have been temporarily laid-off

Diabetes Canada is urging you to stop filling up their donation bins.

As of March 23rd, the pick-up of all textile donations by Diabetes Canada from homes and donation bins across Canada stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

That hasn’t stopped people from piling their textiles, and even garbage into the bins, creating serious health and safety issues.

A spokesperson says at this time they don’t have the financial resources to deploy staff to clean the garbage around the bins.

People are being urged not to drop donations off at the bins while pick-ups are suspended.
