Driver facing drunk and dangerous driving charges after police say she was trying to impress some teenagers

A woman in Vaughan is facing a few charges by way of York Regional Police who say she was trying to impress some teens.

Around 6:00 Wednesday night, police were out doing traffic enforcement in the area of Keele St. and Langstaff Rd. when they say a sports car was clocked at 140km/h in a 60-zone.

The vehicle was stopped and police say they could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath. They also found two minors in the back seat, aged 14 and 15. The driver was arrested and the father was called, as was the Children’s Aid Society.

Police charged a 42-year-old woman with dangerous and impaired driving as well as speeding and stunt driving. Officers say the woman said she was speeding to show the teens how fast the car could go.
