Numerous charges have been laid by Orillia OPP after they allege a motorist blew through at a high rate of speed around midnight as police were involved in a separate incident in the area of Highway 400 and Mount St. Louis Road.
Police made attempts to stop the vehicle but it kept going.
Eventually officers were able to pull over the car, though the occupants fled on foot.
With the assistance of the York Regional Police helicopter, the pair were located.
A 28-year-old Severn Township man has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs contrary to CC section 320.14(1)(a)
· Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to CC section 320.14(1)(b)
· Flight from peace officer contrary to CC 320.17
· Dangerous operation contrary to CC 320.13(1)
· Take motor vehicle without consent contrary to CC 335(1)
· Drive on closed highway contrary to the Highway Traffic Act section 134(3)
· Driving while under suspension contrary to HTA section 53(1.1)
