Driver succumbs to injuries at hospital following serious crash in Tay Township July 4

Cause of fatal crash under investigation

The Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed a man seriously injured in a crash earlier this month has since passed away.

Police say 77-year-old Gunter Naumann of Tay Township was at the wheel of a Mercedes when it was involved in a crash with a pickup truck. The collision closed Highway 12 near Gratrix Road in Tay, as County of Simcoe Paramedics and Tay Township Fire Service worked to extricate both drivers.

Both drivers were rushed to Georgian Bay General Hospital, and Naumann was airlifted by Ornge air ambulance to a Toronto trauma centre from there. The OPP report today, despite the efforts of hospital staff, Nauman succumbed to his injuries on July 10.

The investigation into the now fatal crash continues.
