Suspicious vehicle call in Midland leads to seizure of drugs, two charged

Southern Georgian Bay OPP arrested and charged two people with drug offences after a call about a suspicious vehicle Monday.

The report came through at 1:30 a.m., with police responding to the rear of a strip mall on William Street in Midland and finding the suspect vehicle.

"Officers approached the running vehicle and located an individual passed out in the driver's seat along with another individual in the passenger seat.," OPP stated in a release. "Officers observed numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle and upon awaking and speaking with the driver, entered into an impaired by drug investigation."

Police say they seized cocaine and Canadian currency.

A 54-year-old Midland man was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - drugs
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

He was held for a bail hearing and has a future court date.

While the passenger, a 26-year-old Tay Township woman, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

She was released and is scheduled for court in March.
