Drunk Driving charge laid on man after off-road vehicle spotted driving erratically overnight in Innisfil

Off-road vehicle impounded for a week, licence suspended for 90 days

A recent arrest by South Simcoe Police comes as a reminder that drunk driving is drunk driving, no matter the vehicle.

Officers were called out to a wooded area near the train tracks at the 5th Line of Innisfil around 12:30 Friday morning, with reports of an erratic off-road driver. Officers found the suspect vehicle driving along Killarney Beach Rd. near the 20th Sideroad not long after and arrested the driver.

A 35-year-old Innisfil man is not only facing drunk driving charges, police say he will also answer to a charge of driving an off-road vehicle on a highway. His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for a week.

“We are heading into a long weekend and it’s also Canada Road Safety Week!” reads a statement from the South Simcoe Police Service, “Now, more than ever we need to work together to ensure our communities are safe. That includes reporting dangerous driving behaviours and complying with emergency orders.”
