As part of the Barrie Film Festival's annual festival, the Short Film Competition sees creators from near and far, young and old, submit their work for consideration and presentation at the festival.
Whether you're a just starting or consider yourself a seasoned storyteller, there are three different categories you can submit to:
High School - Open to filmmakers that created their film while in high school, can be created as part of, or independently of a school programme or class. The film must have been made before your 19th Birthday and have been completed after January 1, 2018.
Simcoe County Division - Open to all filmmakers, however, entrants must reside in the geographic region of Simcoe County (including Barrie, Ontario, Canada) or have been a resident in the last 5 years. Simcoe County is located in the central portion of Southern Ontario, Canada. The film must have been completed after January 1, 2018.
Open: Open to all independent filmmakers regardless of age or residence. The film must have been completed after January 1, 2018. Earlybird rate for submitting in this category is $15 – the deadline is August 21, 2020; then the rate goes up to $30.
There will be awards and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category along with a People's Choice Award that is decided by the audience after the Short Film Showcase in October.
