Sparky, Trudge, Jinx, and Frankie are four earnest young singers united by their love of music and their dreams of becoming like their idols — The Four Freshmen, The Hi-Lo's, and The Crew Cuts. Rehearsing in the basement of Trudge's family plumbing supply company, they form their own quartet: Forever Plaid.

Through a magical twist of fate, the four young men are granted one final opportunity to return to the stage and perform the show they never had the chance to give.
