Explosive type material found on walking trail in Penetanguishene

OPP upgrade charges after driver dies of injuries in Highway 12 crash near Gambridge

The OPP say a report of a suspicious item found on a walking trail in Penetanguishene turned out to be an explosive type material.

Police attended the area around Brock and Robert Street East around 9:45 Friday morning.

Investigators determined the material was old and had been exposed to the elements, and had been there for a significant length of time.

The item was removed by police specialty units.

The investigation continues.
