Family Literacy Day is just around the corner, and the Barrie Public Library is gearing up for a day of fun-filled activities that celebrate the joy of reading together as a family. This annual event emphasizes the importance of literacy and encourages families to engage in reading-related adventures.

What is family literacy day?

Family Literacy Day, observed on January 27th, is a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting reading and literacy activities within families. Established in 1999, it highlights the pivotal role that reading plays in a child's learning journey. It also encourages families to make literacy a part of their daily routine.

Join the celebration at Barrie Public Library

The Barrie Public Library invites families to join them at the Downtown Library on January 27th from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. for a special storytime. This engaging session will feature captivating stories, interactive songs, and exciting learning activities for children of all ages.

Additional programs across Barrie libraries

In addition to the Storytime session, the library is hosting several other literacy programs tailored for kids ad families:

  • Sensory Pop-Up Space at the Painswick Library (registration required)
  • Play, Learn, Grow at the Holly Library
  • Messy! at the Painswick Library
