Farmhouse to be closed three months following electrical room fire

Fire damaged basement on August 23

The Farmhouse Restaurant at Barrie’s waterfront will be closed for a good three months following a fire in the basement.

Fire crews were called to the restaurant around 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, after an employee spotted smoke in the basement. That employee began tackling the flames with a fire extinguisher before Barrie Fire showed up to finish the job.

Farmhouse owner Randy Feltis said via social media the fire did some damage to the restaurant’s electrical room. He added the entire room needs to be replaced, meaning the Farmhouse will be closed for three months.

“We will take this time to improve our beautiful old house and come back better than ever,” he added.
