Fire marshal to determine cause of $7 million house fire near Thornbury

Nobody was hurt after a fire did about $7 million in damage to a home just west of Thornbury in the Town of Blue Mountains.

Town of Blue Mountain fire crews were called to a home on Lake Drive around 3 a.m. Monday, arriving to find the home fully engulfed in flames. Despite best efforts, the home was a total loss. Blue Mountains Fire Chief Steve Conn told Barrie 360 they have pegged the damage estimate at $7 million.

Chief Conn added that his crews remained on scene throughout the morning to douse hot spots, while the Ontario Fire Marshal was en route as of late morning to help determine the cause of the fire. The blaze is not being considered suspicious.
