Fire officials have yet to peg a cause for a massive blaze that tore through two barns at North Simcoe Veterinary Service (NSVS) in Tay Township.
Fire Chief Shawn Aymer told Barrie 360 in an email that he doesn't have a damage total but the barns were destroyed. Crews were able to save the vet clinic.
The blaze, which erupted shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday, is not considered suspicious.
In a Facebook post, NSVS said their tilt table, horse stocks room and garage were destroyed by the flames.
"Thankfully, our horses and barn cats were able to escape the fire, and are being assessed to ensure no injuries have occurred," NSVS added. "We are overwhelmed by the community spirit and offers of help on social media, emails, text messages and other avenues. We are so grateful to live and work in such a place!"
NSVS said appointments are going ahead as the clinic is structurally sound and was unaffected by the fire.
