Five cases of COVID announced by local Health Unit Wednesday, four in Barrie and one in Wasaga Beach

Province-wide caseload rose by less than 100 for the first time in six days

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) added five more cases of COVID-19 to its caseload on Wednesday.

Of the five cases announced by the SMDHU, four are from the City of Barrie. The other from Wasaga Beach. Ages among these new cases range from youth to age 64 and how they all contracted the virus remains under investigation.

This brings the SMDHU caseload to 693 including 629 recoveries. That’s two more from yesterday. No recent deaths have been announced by the SMDHU, the local death toll remains at 37.

Meanwhile, a five-day streak of COVID-19 numbers above the 100 mark province-wide ended Wednesday, with Public Health Ontario confirming 88 cases added. There were also 115 recoveries listed in Wednesday’s update, along with two deaths.
