Four more people lost to COVID-19 in Simcoe Muskoka as Health Unit increases case count by 16

Five more people recovered over the weekend

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has announced an additional 16 cases added to its caseload since Friday, for a total of 375.

Of those, four deaths have been confirmed, for a total of 29 across the region. The Health Unit says a man in his 90s from Bradford Valley Community Care and a 70-something woman at Owen Hill Care Community were among the four that lost their lives to the virus. The Health Unit continues to report outbreaks at these two long-term care facilities, along with Barrie’s Whispering Pines, Bayview Retirement in Waubaushene, and Muskoka Traditions in Huntsville.

Another five recoveries were reported over the weekend, with 189 all told.
