Freight train makes emergency stop after report of teens lying on tracks in Tottenham

Police say the teens fled when officers arrived

A southbound Canadian Pacific freight train had to make an emergency stop after provincial police were alerted by a citizen late Monday afternoon that some youths were lying on the tracks near the 7th Line in Tottenham.

When police arrived, Nottawasga OPP say the teens took off.

Officers patrolled the area, including a neighbouring subdivision, but could not locate the youths.

"Acts such as this are not only extremely dangerous, but utilize emergency service resources," police said in a news release on Tuesday.
