Gone fishing: Licence-free fishing until July 11 in Ontario
Individuals must still follow catch and size regulations
There might be a few more gone fishing signs hanging on doors in the province.
You won’t need a licence or Outdoors Card to cast a line in Ontario starting on Saturday.
Free fishing week lasts until Sunday, July 11.
The freebie doesn’t mean you can ignore rules around catch and size limits.
“Fishing is a time-honoured tradition and terrific way for families to spend time together,” said Natural Resources Minister Greg Rickford. “I hope everyone in Ontario is able to head down to a lake or river and take part in Free Fishing Week, this year.”
Normally, anyone 18 or older, but under 65 must have an Outdoors Card and fishing licence. Veterans and active Armed Forces members are exempt from this rule.
