Gowns And Gloves Gala Raises Big Bucks For RVH

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to benefit

They’re finished counting the cash at RVH from last weekend’s inaugural Gowns and Gloves Gala.

The event raised $326,000 for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and new medical equipment.

“Over 2,000 babies are born at RVH each year and ensuring we have the technology ready to support the specialized healthcare needs of our tiniest patients is vital,” says Janice Skot, RVH president and CEO. “Each year approximately 400 babies require extra care in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and we want to ensure they can get that care, closer to home. We’re so grateful to the individuals and companies that supported the gala and are helping us provide care for generations to come.”

Most equipment is not government funded which means the cost of replacement is the responsibility of the health centre and the community. Funds from the gala will support various medical equipment needs touching the lives of many patients.

The gala included a reception, dinner and musical entertainment by the Montreal Rhapsody Orchestra, as well as live and silent auctions.
