A third case of COVID-19 among Barrie transit drivers in less than a week has the health unit declaring an outbreak.
On Wednesday, the city confirmed a third case of COVID had cropped up among Barrie Transit staff, after reporting two cases last week. On Thursday, the city confirmed that Wednesday’s case could be linked to a transit operator who tested positive.
As a result of the linked cases within one workplace setting, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit declared an outbreak. There have been no other reported cases among staff. Citing safety measures put in place by Barrie Transit, the health unit believes the risk of transmission is low.
Barrie Transit will continue to operate as normal.
