• Amount of litter collected: 4.9 tonnes
• Schools: 45

The "Spring Into Clean" event takes place on May 25th and is designed to raise environmental awareness and clean up our community.

While registration for the Student, community, corporate events has closed for this year, the waterfront cleanup day is open to all and requires no registration! Make your way to Heritage Park on May 5th from 9 AM to 1 PM to receive all the tools you need to help clean up Barrie's waterfront. After the cleanup, volunteers will be treated to a community BBQ and musical performance from percussion group Enviro Drum.

Last years event was a resounding success with over 45 schools and 18,000 residents cleaning up over 4.9 tonnes of garbage. That's about 2 times as heavy as a rhinoceros, 6 and a half times as heavy as a cow, or 8 and a half times as heavy as a grizzly bear. That's a lot of garbage!

For full details on the event and how to get involved check out their event page.
