High Milers And Drunk Drivers Keeping South Simcoe Police Busy

Three Drivers Charged Today

The South Simcoe Police Traffic Unit kept busy today, with a spate of charges laid.

Officers didn’t have to go far to tag two alleged street racers; an officer on patrol claimed to spy a 59-year-old Angus man hitting a speed of 133km/h in an 80 zone along Highway 27 today, resulting in a Stunt Driving Charge. A short time after that, same road and same speeed, a 20-year-old Barrie man was also charged. Both drivers had their licenses suspended and vehicles impounded for a week.

An early morning traffic stop in Bradford ended with an Impaired Driving charge. An officer says he spied two people get into a parked car on Mary St around 2:00 this morning, and drive off erratically. A traffic stop later, and police say the driver failed his roadside breath test. The 41-year-old was taken back to the stationhouse to be charged.
