Hotspots remain as 137 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Sunday

58 per cent of Sunday's new cases are under the age of 40, according to provincial health minister

The province reported 137 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, as young people continue to drive up the infection rate.

Health Minister Christine Elliot tweeted that 58% of today’s new cases are under the age of 40.

“Locally, 27 of 34 (Public Health Units) are reporting five or fewer cases, with 14 of them reporting no new cases. Ottawa is reporting 26 cases with 25 more cases in Windsor-Essex.”

Toronto reported 39 new cases in the past 24 hours.

Provincial labs processed 26,000 tests, which is 4,000 fewer than the day before.

There were four more deaths from COVID-19 on Sunday, which has pushed the provincial total to 2,763 with 34,359 recoveries. There are now 1,558 active cases of the virus in Ontario.
