Housing market remains strong in Barrie year-over-year

Slight stagnation in monthly comparisons

There was a slight dip in the number of homes sold last month in Barrie.

The Barrie and District Association of Realtors reports 318 units were sold in October, which is a 1.5% drop from the month previous. A year ago, the number of units sold between October and September increased 11.8%

Sellers continue to get a bang for their buck. The average price of homes sold within Barrie during October was $598,460. This was 4.5% more than the average price during September. In comparison, the average price of homes sold between October 2019 and September 2019 increased by 1.0%.

In Simcoe County excluding Barrie last month, 653 homes sold, a drop of 6% from the number of units sold in September.

The average price of a home sold in areas outside Barrie last month was $674,791, a 2.2% increase from September.

Year-to-date including October, 2,570 homes were sold in Barrie, a nearly 29% jump from the same timeframe in 2019. This growth was greater than the increase in all of Simcoe County.

The average price of a home sold in Barrie in 2020 up until the end of October was $558,426, which is 13.2% more in the same timeframe last year.
