Boom lift operator hanging Christmas lights charged with impaired

Police received a report that a man was hanging from a crane

South Simcoe Police say impaired is impaired.

Police say they received a call from Friday Harbour Resort on Monday afternoon about a man hanging from a crane who appeared to be unconscious.

Officers determined the man had been operating a boom lift and had fallen from the basket and was dangling from his safety harness. At the time, police say he was attaching Christmas lights to storefronts along the resort’s boardwalk.

He was brought down from the bucket, taken to the hospital where he was cleared and then taken back to the police station.

A 38-year-old Elmvale man was charged with impaired operation. His licence was suspended for 90 days.
