Impaired Driving Suspect Put Up A Fight, Says Police

Stunt Driving, Drug Possession Charges Also Laid Over The Weekend

A number of charges laid against an Innisfil man, after police say they had to give chase.

Around 3:00 Sunday morning, South Simcoe Police were contacted by a citizen concerned about a possible drunk driver in the area of 10th Line and 25th Sideroad of Innisfil. Officers tried to stop the vehicle in question, but say it sped off and pulled into a nearby driveway.

Police say the 42-year-old man behind the wheel didn’t come willingly but resisted and threatened officers instead. During his arrest, police claim they found some white powder.

The suspect has since been charged with Impaired Driving, Assaulting an Officer, Uttering Threats, and Drug Possession.

Meanwhile, a 53-year-old Bradford man was charged with Impaired Driving, after a driving complaint around 8:00 Saturday evening led to a traffic stop.

South Simcoe Police also charged a 43-year-old man from Schomberg with Speeding and Stunt Driving over the weekend, claiming the motorist was clocked at 115 kilometers an hour in a 50km zone on Canal Rd. near Tornado Drive.
