As of January 1, 2020, Barrie Police will charge $20 for an in-person record check requested by a volunteer organization, while online record checks will remain at $12.
The online service was launched in 2017 and allows Barrie residents to securely apply for a Record Check 24-hours-a-day, without having to go to the police station.
People under 18 are not allowed to use the online system for a record check, and there will be a $12 fee when filed in-person.
Record checks may require a follow up if you require a Vulnerable Sector Check and your gender and date of birth matches that of a pardoned sex offender.
In this case, fingerprints would be requested in order to rule out a match.
