
The South Simcoe Police emergency response team was pressed into action when officers responded Tuesday evening to a report of a man pointing a gun at a group of teenagers in the area of Riva Avenue in Innisfil.
Witnesses told police they heard gunshots and saw a man pointing a rifle from a balcony believed to be the suspect's residence.
A containment area was established and soon after the man surrendered to police without incident.

Police say they searched the residence to ensure nobody other than the suspect was insde.
A search warrant was obtained and a high velocity 22-calibre pellet rifle, along with ammunition, was seized, police said.
A 66-year-old from Innisfil was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and careless use of a firearm.
He was held pending a bail hearing.
