Too many wrong-way drivers are using the 7th Line in Innisfil.
In 2018, the Town of Innisfil declared the 7th Line between Yonge St. and 10th Sideroad a one-way westbound road with resident-only access until further notice. South Simcoe Police say there are multiple signs at both intersections indicating the road is one-way, but some drivers continue to ignore the warnings. As a result, police are conducting increased enforcement on the 7th Line.
Four motorists have been charged for driving the wrong way on the one-way 7th Line during the evening commute. The charge carries a $110 fine plus three demerit points.
“These motorists create a dangerous situation for other drivers and police. We have received reports of close calls where head-on collisions were narrowly avoided,” police said in a media release.
Police urge drivers to use alternatives such as 6th Line and Innisfil Beach Road
