Barrie-Innisfil voters have reelected Conservative John Brassard as their Member of Parliament.
This is the second time Brassard got the vote, having first been elected in 2015. “It never gets old,” says Brassard, “there’s always excitement that leads up to an election night. There’s obviously a lot of work that goes into it. I’m very excited to be elected as the Member of Parliament for Barrie-Innisfil for a second term. My pledge is to continue to do what I’m doing, and that is to work hard and represent the people of Barrie and Innisfil with a strong and pragmatic voice in the House of Commons.”
He says he is proud of how this campaign was run. “We absolutely, locally, ran a very positive campaign. All the discussions we had at the door were not about other candidates or other parties, it was about issues facing Canadians.”
He says despite his party failing to win the election doesn’t change his responsibilities. “The most important part of what we’re dealing with here, is the challenges that Canadians are facing. And we have to face those challenges on a united front,” says Brassard, “issues like affordability, issues like climate, issues like national unity.”
