Julie Underhill says it's the most fun she's had in a long time.
Three years after the Kempenfelt Community Players performed Mamma Mia, Underhill is co-directing the Queen musical WE WILL ROCK YOU, Feb. 9 - Feb. 19 at Georgian Theatre.
"We all felt we need something fun, lively," Underhill told Barrie 360. "People are going to want to come out and sing along, and they'll leave the theatre not sure did I go see a musical or did I go see a rock concert?"
The musical is set 300 years in the future, where a corporation called Global Soft is trying to control everything and everyone, making everyone think, look, and dress the same. However, there is a group of Bohemian rebels who have found artifacts from the past that remind them of rock and roll. They believe there is a dreamer out there who can lead them to the truth about rock and roll, but the corporation is trying to stop them.
"There's really gentle moments, the lovely ballads that we have. And there's a lot of humour mixed in. There's some funny one-liners in there," said Underhill.
