UPDATE: Charges Upgraded to First Degree Murder After Victim Succumbs to Injuries

Charges against a 69-year-old man have been upgraded to First Degree Murder, after William Lackey succumbed to his injuries in Toronto hospital.

The accused made a brief court appearance today where the upgraded charges were announced, and will be back in front of a judge later this month.

OPP have released the name of the 34 year old man wounded in a shooting Wednesday morning (January 30) at a Line 10 North address in Oro-Medonte.

William Lackey suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition at hospital in Toronto.

A 69 year old Oro-Medonte man has been charged with Attempted Murder.

The investigation continues.

An elderly man is facing a charge of attempted murder after an incident in Oro.

The OPP confirm a 34-year-old man was taken to Orillia hospital with life threatening injuries after first responders were called to a Line 10 home around 11:30 Wednesday morning.

A 69-year-old man is in police custody, while the victim has since been transported to Toronto hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The OPP say the investigation continues.
