Local shopping thrives with DIY Online market

Barrie Facebook group features creations by local entrepreneurs

The DIY- Online Spring Fling Market is off to a strong start.

The Facebook group showcases vendors every holiday, and the Spring/Easter market is full of local goods.

Organizer Kerry-Lynn Embrack says they have several new vendors offering local products, and there’s something for everybody.

The market originally began in December 2021, and Embrack says she’s thrilled with how much it’s grown.

“Many of our vendors continue to be busy, and we continue to grow. I’m blown away by the support we’ve had, and people want to buy locally,” she says.

What makes the DIY market stand out from the others is its organization.

Each vendor has a certain time to post so that everyone is highlighted without clogging the Facebook newsfeed.

“We want to have as many vendors as we can without being overly saturated with the same products,” Embrack explains.

“I want to get their names out there because they are very talented people, and I want them to do well.”

When a vendor begins on the market, they might have many questions, but Embrack says she and others in the group are always dishing out advice.

“I’m very passionate about this group, and I want everyone to succeed. I will sit with them if they’re having issues selling and try to help.”

Not all vendors can get on the group, but Embrack says that shouldn’t stop them from asking for advice.

“We only have enough room for some vendors per category, but we want to talk to you and help you sell your product even if those categories are full.”

The Spring Fling Market is on until April 16th, with regular giveaways happening throughout.
