Local housing market continues down road to recovery with improved sales in June

Average price higher, too

The real estate market in Barrie continued to rebound in June.

Sales in Barrie up were 53 percent last month compared to May; the average price was 6.2 percent higher at $552,164.

Across Simcoe County sales rose 62.9 percent with an average price of $569,982 – a 3.1 percent increase over May.

Sales activity in the second quarter, at the height of the COVID-19 lockdown, was not as strong as last year. Sales in Barrie fell 10 percent compared to a year ago, though prices increased by 10 percent.

In Simcoe County there was a 7.4 percent decrease in units sold during the quarter. The average price of homes sold was 12 percent higher than a year ago.
